HOW TO USE THE MANUAL MODE
Press any button on the console or begin
1
pedaling to turn on the console.
When the console is turned on, the display will
light.
Select the manual mode.
2
Each time the con-
sole is turned on, the
manual mode will be
selected. If you have
selected a program,
reselect the manual
mode by pressing either of the Smart Programs
buttons repeatedly until the display shows a time
of 0:00.
Begin pedaling and change the resistance of
3
the pedals as desired.
As you pedal, change the resistance of the ped-
als by pressing the Resistance increase and
decrease buttons. There are ten resistance lev-
els. Note: After a button is pressed, it will take a
moment for the pedals to reach the selected
resistance level.
Monitor your progress with the display.
4
The upper section of
the display will show
the elapsed time and
the distance (total
number of revolu-
tions) that you have
pedaled. The display will change from one num-
ber to the other every few seconds. Note: When a
smart program is selected, the display will show
the time remaining in the program instead of the
elapsed time.
The section of the
display below the
upper section will
show your pedaling
pace, in revolutions
per minute (rpm).
The next section of
the display will show
the approximate num-
ber of calories you
have burned and the
resistance level of the
pedals. The display will change from one number
to the other every few seconds. The display will
also show your heart rate when you use the hand-
grip pulse sensor. Note: When a calorie program
is selected, the display will show the number of
calories still to be burned instead of the number of
calories you have burned.
The lower section of
the display will show
the total number of
steps you have taken
(one revolution equals
two steps). Note:
When the MyTracks™ StepCounter program is
selected, the display will show the number of
steps still to be taken instead of the number of
steps you have taken.
Measure your heart rate if desired.
5
If there are sheets
of clear plastic on
the metal contacts
on the handgrip
pulse sensor, peel
off the plastic.
Next, hold the
handgrip pulse sen-
sor, with your
palms resting on the metal contacts. Avoid mov-
ing your hands or gripping the contacts too
tightly. When your pulse is detected, a heart-
shaped symbol will flash in the display each time
your heart beats and then your heart rate will be
shown. For the most accurate heart rate reading,
hold the contacts for at least 15 seconds. Note: If
you continue to hold the handgrip pulse sensor,
the display will show your heart rate for up to 30
seconds. The display will then show your heart
rate along with the other modes.
When you are finished exercising, the console
6
will automatically turn off.
If the pedals are not moved for several seconds,
the console will pause and the time will begin to
flash in the display. If the pedals are not moved
for a few minutes, the console will turn off and the
display will be reset.
