Problem
You have connected an external
keyboard or a mouse and it seems
to be locking up the system.

USB Device Problems

Your LIFEBOOK does not recognize
a USB device, or the device does
not seem to work properly.

Power Failures

You turn on the system and noth-
ing seems to happen.
Possible Cause
Your system has crashed.
The device is not properly
installed.
The device may have been
installed while an application
was running, so the system is
not aware of its installation.
Your device may not have the
correct software driver active.
The power adapter is faulty.
The battery is completely dis-
charged or there is no power
adapter installed.
The battery is faulty.
The power adapter is not
plugged in properly.
The battery is low.
Power adapter has no power
from AC outlet, airplane seat
jack, or cigarette lighter.
Possible Solutions
Try to restart your LIFEBOOK Ultrabook. If that fails, turn off the power using the
power/suspend/resume button, wait at least 10 seconds, and then power on. If
turning off power with the power/suspend/resume button fails, the button has
likely been set to suspend or hibernate.
Remove and re-install the device.
Close the application and restart your LIFEBOOK.
See your software documentation and activate the correct driver.
Try a different power adapter.
Check the Status Indicator Panel to determine the battery condition. See "Status
Indicator Panel" on page 17. Install a power adapter to recharge the battery.
Use the Status Indicator panel to verify the presence/condition of the batteries.

from another power source. To find out how to get a new battery installed, contact

Verify that your adapter (AC or auto/airline) is connected correctly.

Check the Status Indicator Panel to determine the condition of the battery.Use a
power adapter until the battery is charged.
Move the AC cord to a different outlet, check for a line switch or tripped circuit
breaker for the AC outlet. If you are using an auto/airline adapter in a car make
sure the ignition switch is in the On or Accessories position.
