If your aera came with a GXM 40
antenna, you can access XM WX weather
information. You must have purchased and
activated an XM subscription, and your aera
must be connected to a GXM 40 antenna and
be receiving XM satellite signals to receive
weather information. XM is not available
on all aera models. See page iv
which models are XM compatible.
NOTE: XM is only available in North
America.

Receiving XM Signals
Viewing Weather on the Map
Touch Tools > Weather > Map.
Options—select the type of weather
conditions to show on the map.
• NEXraD radar—(NEXt Generation
Weather raDar) shows precipitation
from very light rain and snow to strong
thunderstorms.
• Satellite Mosaic—shows cloud cover but
not precipitation.
• Storm Cells—shows current storm cells
and their projected paths.
• Lightning—shows recent lightning
strikes.
animate—provides a brief animation of
current weather patterns.
