Shooting – The Basics

Movie Mode

Use this mode to shoot movies. The
resolution can be set to [

(320 × 240)] or [
(160 × 120)] (p. 41).

Turn the Shooting mode dial to

The LCD monitor turns on and displays the
maximum recording time (in seconds).

Press the shutter button all the
way.
Shooting and sound recording starts
simultaneously.
During the shooting a red circle appears in
the upper right of the LCD monitor.

Press the shutter button all the
way to stop recording the movie.
The maximum length of individual movie clips
is 30 seconds (10 frames/second) at the
setting and 3 minutes (15 frames/second) at

Recording times vary by the CF card. See CF
Cards and Estimated Capacities (Recordable
Images) (p. 145)
The maximum length of individual movie clips
may vary with the subject and shooting
conditions. Recording will automatically stop
when the maximum is reached or when the CF
cards runs out of free capacity.
The recording time may not display
properly during shooting or filming may
stop unexpectedly with the following
types of CF cards.
- Slow recording cards
- Cards formatted on a different camera
or a computer
- Cards which have had images
recorded and erased repeatedly
Although recording time may not display
properly during shooting, the movie will
be recorded correctly on the CF card.
Recording time will display properly if
you format the CF card in this camera
(excluding slow recording CF cards).
You are recommended to use a CF card
that has been formatted in your camera
to shoot movies (p. 19). The card
supplied with the camera may be used
without further formatting.
