Installing the SDVK1 Plug-&-Play Direct Connect Kit
Professional installation of this product is recommended by SIRIUS.
The SDVK1 Plug-&-Play Direct Connect Kit will not work with any SIRIUS Receiver that requires other than
12 volts to operate. Consult the specifications section of the user guide which accompanied your Sirius
Satellite Plug and Play product to verify compatibility.
Instructions for installing your specific Receiver and antenna are found in your Sirius Satellite Plug and
Play product user guide. Install the wiring as shown.
If the radio in your vehicle is equipped with an auxiliary input, use this jack to connect to the audio output of the
receiver using the supplied audio cable. This will assure the best audio quality.

Connecting the Power Cable

The power cable has two wires, one solid black and one black with a white stripe. These wires must be
connected to ground and +12v power in the vehicle.
The solid black wire is the ground wire and it is recommended that it be connected to a bare metal
connection, usually in a hidden area in driver's side kick panel. Attach a ring terminal to the end of the solid
black wire and crimp it onto the wire for a tight connection. Scrape away the paint to expose an area of bare
metal on the vehicle and attach the ring terminal to the bare metal with a sheet metal screw. Avoid using any
radio or factory grounds.
The black wire with the white stripe is the +12v power wire. This must be connected to the vehicle's
accessory circuit. This is the same circuit that typically powers the radio, and can most often be found in the
vehicle's ignition switch harness. Use a Digital Volt Meter to identify this wire. The correct wire will show no
voltage with the key off, but will show +12 volts with the key in the Accessory or Run position but will show no
voltage when the key is turned to the Start position. Voltage should return as soon as the key is returned to the
