TROUBLE
SHOOTING
CHART
The Engine will not start.
1. Move the throttle controllever to the FAST or START position.
2. Make sum the fuoitank is filled with clanngasoline.Do not use old gasoline.
3. On a coldongine, pushthe pdmerbutton(optionalon some models)five times.
4. Make sure the wirefar the sparkplug is connectodto the sperk plug.
5. Adjustthe Carburetor.See the "EngineInslxuction Book'.
6. There is ton muchgasolinein the enginecylinder.Remove and drythe sparkplug. Put the
throttle controlin the SLOW Ix_ition. Pullthe recoil-startgripseveraltimes. Installthe spark
plug.Connectthe wire to the sparkplug. Startthe engine.
7. The angina is difficuR to start in heavyer highgrass.Movethe mowerto a clesndrysurface.
8. Make sure the enginestop lever is in the operatingposition.
9. Make awe the fuelvalve is in the ON pos'_ion. S ee the "EngineInal=uction Book'.
10. On alectdc start models, makesure the wiring horneasis connected.Chargethe battery.
The Engine will not stop.
1. Releasethe enginestop lever.
2. Checkthe enginestop cable. Replacethe cableif bentor damaged.
The Engine performance
Is bad.
1. Check the heightof cut settings. Raisethe heightof cut if the graasis high.
2. Check the bottomof the blade housing.Clesn the blode houalngof graasond ether debris.
3. Check the wireto the spark plug. Make sure the wire Is connected,
4. Cleec the enginecoolingfinsof grass andother debris.
5. Check the corburetoradjustments.See the "EngineInstnJction Book'.
6. Check the sperk pluggap. Set the sperkpluggab et 0.030".
7. Check the amountof oil in the engine. Fillwithoil if neceasery.
8. Check the engine Aircleaner.See the *Engine Instrec_onBook'.
9. The gasoline is bad. Drainand clean the fuel tank. Fillthe fueltank with cleangasoline.
10. Check the throttle control.Make surethe lever Is net In the CHOKE poalifon.
Excessive Vlbrstion.
1. Remove the blade. Check the blade and balanceif necessary.:Seethe blade maintenance
Instructions.
2. Check for a bent or brckenblade. A DAMAGED BLADE IS DANGEROUS AND MUST BE
REPLACED.
3. Check the blade adapter. REPLACEA BROKEN BLADEADAPTER.
4. If the vibrationcontinues,take the mowerto an AuthorizedServiceCenter.
The grass will not discharge correctly.
1. Clean the bottomof the mower housing.
2. Check for a badly wornblade. Remove and sherpanthe blade. For safety, rsplecethe blade
every twoyearswith a factory roplacement blade.
3. Move the throttlecontrolleverto the FAST poaltk)n.Checkthe speod ofthe ongine according
to the *Engine Instxuction Book'.
The grass Is not cut even.
1. Checkthe heightodjustment et eachwhesl.Theheightedjuetme_ mustbethesamefor eech
wheel.
2. Make sure the blade is sharp.
3. Check for a bent or brokenblade. A DAMAGED BLADE IS DANGEROUS AND MUST BE
REPLACED.
4. Check for a brokenblade adapter. REPLACE A BROKEN BLADEADAPTER.
