1. Removeanypackingmaterialwhich may be between
upperand lowerhandles.
a. Pull up and backon upperhandleas shownin
Figure3-1.Makecertain the lowerhandleis seated
securelyintothe handle mountingbrackets.
b. Tightenhandknobs to secureupperhandleto
lowerhandle.Make surethat eachcarriagebolt is
seatedproperlyin the handle.
NOTE:Make certainthe drive cable is routedaround
the outside and above the lowerhandle.
2. Locatethe hairpinclipon the weldpin on eachsideof
the lowerhandle.

Removehairpinclipfrom this hole.Usinga pair
of pliers,insert hairpinclip intothe holeon pin
closestto the bracket,Figure3-2. Repeaton other
side.

b. Inserta carriagebolt fromthe hardwarepack into
the upperhole on the handle mountingbracket.
Securewith one plasticwing nut,also included
in the hardwarepack.Repeaton other sidewith
remainingitemsfrom hardwarepack.
The ropeguide,which is connectedto the support
rod,is locatedon the right sideof the lowerhandle,

a. Holdthe blade controlagainstupperhandle.
b. Pull starterropeout of the engine.Releasethe
bladecontrol.

c. Slip starterrope into ropeguide.
Securecables to the lowerhandle usingthe cableties
alreadyon the lowerhandle.Insertpegson cable ties
intothe holeson the lowerhandle.Pull cableties tight
and trim excess.
