RELIEF VALVE
A hydrostatic
rellef valve is provided
so the unit can
be moved without the engine running. The lever which
operates
the relier valve is located
on the console.
See figure g.
To operate the relief valve, place the hydrostatic
con-
trol lever in neutral, release the parking brake, push
the lever forward and to the right to lock. Be certain to
release the lever by pushing it to the left before ol3er-
ating the engine.
INDICATOR LIGHTS
Two or three indicator
lights are located in the dash
panel. If a light illuminates
when attempting
to start
the unit, proceed as follows.
CLUTCH--Depress
the clutch pedal,
PTO_Plece
lift lever in the DISENGAGED
position.
Vanguard
E_gines Only:
OIL--Check
the crankcase
oil level, and add oil as
required.
CUTTING CONTROLS
A, LIFT LEVER
The lift lever is used to raise and lower the cuffing
deck
and to engage
and disengage
the blades.
Pulling il all the way back and locking it disengages
the blades
NOTE:
T_e df_ lever must
be in the BLADES
OFF
posiOon when starting
lhe engine,
when shifting _nto
reverse and if the operator leaves the seat. See figure
10.
R, DECK LIFT INDICATOR
The deck rift indicator marks the position
being used
for the lift lever. Select the lift lever position desired,
press the indicator lever outward,
move it to the posi-
tion immediately
below the lift lever and release the
indicator lever. See figure 10.
C, S E'n'ING THE CUTTING HEIGHT
1. Select the position
for the lift lever which gives
the desired cuffing height. Move the deck lift Indi_
cator so that the lift lever can be returned to the
same position after it is raised.
2. Move the deck wheels to the hole location so the
wheels are 1/4 to 1/2 inch above the ground.

the oil level
before
operating.
Be careful not tc overfill.
WARNING:
Never
fill fuel tank
indoors,
with
engine
rur_ning
or while engine
is
hot.
