Messages
and Displays
The following
warnings are displayed in the monitor:
(red)
Batteries are low.
Insert fresh or fully-charged
spare batteries.
Batteries are exhausted.
Slow shutter
speed.
Picture may be blurred.
The camera can not focus.
The subject
is too bright
or too dark. The pic-
ture will be over- or under-exposed.
A subject or subjects
may have blinked.
Camera malfunction.
(blinks red)

with red focus
frame)
Aperture or shutter
speed shown in red
BLINK D ETECTED
FOCUS
ERROR
TURN O FF T HE CAMERA
AND TURN O N AGAIN
LENS C ONTROL
ERROR
The
memory
card
is not
formatted
or the
memory
card was formatted
in a computer
or
other
device.
CARD NOT INITIALIZED
The memory
card contacts
require
cleaning.
Camera malfunction.
PROTECTED
CARD
The memory
card is locked.
Use the flash or mount
the camera on a tripod.
Use focus lock to focus on another
subject at the
same distance, then recompose
the picture
(pg. 33).
If the subject is poorly lit, try focusing
at a distance of
about
2 m (6.6 ft.).
Use macro mode to focus when taking close-ups.
If the subject is dark, use the flash.
Retake the photograph
if desired.
Turn the camera off and then on again, taking care not
to touch
the lens.
If the message
persists, contact
a
FUJIFILM dealer.
Format the memory
card using the []
FORMAT
op-

tion in the camera setup menu (pg. 99).
Clean the contacts
with
a soft, dry cloth.
If the mes-
sage is repeated,
format
the memory
card (pg. 99).
If
the message
persists, replace the memory
card.
