Howexei; if you mttst use an adapter, where
local codes pemfit, a temporary connection
may be made to a properly" grounded 2-prong
wall outlet by use ofa UL-listed adapter
available at most local hardware stores.
The larger slot in file adapter mttst be
aligned ,Mdi the larger slot in Hie wall outlet
m provide proper polarity in the connection
of the power coM.
When disconnecting file power cord from die
adapm*; always hold the adapter in place widi
one hand while pulling the power cord plug
widi the other hand. If dfis is not done, the
Mapter ground terminal is ve*y likely to break
widi repeated use.
If the adapter ground terminal breaks, DO NOT
USE dm air conditioner until a proper ground
has been established.
Attaching the adapterground terminal to a wall outlet
cover screw doesnot ground the applianceunless the
cover screw is metal, and not insulated, and the wall
outlet is groundedthrough the housewiring. Youshould
have the circuit checkedby a qualified electricianto
make sure the outlet is properlygrounded.
