Because of potential safety hazards under certain
conditions, we strongly recommend against the
use of an extension cord.
Howex>t; if you must nse an extension cord,
it is absolutely necessary that it be a UiAismd,
14 gauge, 3-wire gro/mding b'pe appliance
extension cord having a grounding type plug
and outlet and flint fl)e electrical rating of rite
cord be 15 amperes (mininmm) and 195 x_lts.
CAUTION:
DO NOT use an extension cord with any of the
230/208 volt models.

Because of potential safety hazards under certain
conditions, we strongly recommend against the
use of an adapter plug.
Howex>[; if you must nse an adapte[; where
local codes i)ermit, a temporary connection
may be made to a properly grounded 9-prong
wall outlet by use of a UiAisted adapter
available at most local hardware stores.
The larg>r slot in fl_e adapter mnst be
aligned with fl_e larger slot in file wall outlet
to provide proper polarity in the connection
of the power cord.
When disconnecting file power cord flom the
adaptel; alwws hold tile adapter in place with
one hand while pulling the power cord ping
with the other hand. If this is not done, the
adapter ground mmfinal is x>ty likely' to break
with repeated use.
If the adapter ground temfinal 1)reaks, DO NOT
USE the air conditioner
until a i)roi)er ground
has been established.
Attaching the adapter ground termbal to a waft outlet
cover screw does not ground the applianceunless the
cover screw is metal, and not bsulated, and the waft
outlet is groundedthrough the housewiring. Youshould
have the circuit checkedby a quafified electricianto
make sure the outlet is properlygrounded.
