TO PREVENT PERSONAL
INJURY OR DAMAGE TO ENGINE:
When the four engine mounting screws
are removed during the installation
steps, the engine will not be secured to
the tiller. Use extreme care not to let
the engine fall off the tiller!
Installation Steps
1. Park the tiller on a level surface and
Qty.
raise or lower the Depth Regulator
Lever until the base of the engine is
level. Keep the tiller and engine level
to help prevent the engine from falling
off the tiller when the engine mounting
screws are removed.
IMPORTANT: When removing the
engine mounting screws in Step 3, do
not allow the engine to move out of
position on the left and right side
engine support brackets. It is critical
to proper belt alignment that the same
mounting holes in the engine support
brackets be used when installing the
bumper mounting screws.
2. Loosen (do not remove) the hex nuts
on the four screws that secure the
engine to the left and right side engine
support brackets. Note the position of
the screws in the support brackets.
3. Without moving the engine, remove
the four screws, lockwashers and hex
nuts. This hardware will not be used
with the bumper.
4. On the left side of the engine, loosely
attach the bumper with the two new
screws, lockwashers and hex nuts
provided in the kit (lockwashers go
next to hex nuts). See Figure 1. The
screws can be installed in either direc-
tion, but facing downward is preferred,
if room allows.

side, as shown in Figure 2. The rear-
most screw must face upward.

securely.
