Each endof the tractor'sfront pivot barmaybeequipped with agrease fitting.
Lubricate with agrease gunafter every25 hoursoftractoroperation.
Battery
Thebatteryis sealed andismaintenance-free. Acidlevels cannotbechecked.
Always keepthe batterycables andterminalscleanandfreeof corrosive
buiN-up.
Aftercleaning the batteryandterminals, a pplya lightcoatof petroleum jelly
or grease to bothterminals.
Always keepthe rubberbootpositionedoverthe positiveterminalto prevent
shorting.
IMPORTANT:
Ifremoving the batteryforanyreason, d isconnect the NEGATIVE
(Black) w irefrom its terminalfirst, followedbythe POSITIVE (Red) w ire.When
re-installing the battery,always connectthe POSITIVE (Red) w ireto its terminal
first, followedbythe NEGATIVE
(Black) w ire. Becertainthatthe wiresareconnected
to the correct t erminals; r eversing themcouldchange the polarityandresultin
damage toyourengine's alternatingsystem.
CleaningBattery
Clean the batterybyremoving it from thetractorandwashingwith a bakingsoda
andwatersolution.If necessary, scrape the batteryterminalswith awirebrushto
remove deposits. C oat t erminalsandexposed wiring with grease or petroleum jelly
to prevent c orrosion.
Battery Failures
Some common causes f or batteryfailureare:
Incorrect i nitialactivation
Overcharging
Freezing
Undercharging
Corroded connections
These failuresareNOT covered byyourtractor'swarranty.
Cleaning the EngineAnd Deck
Anyfuel or oil spilledonthe machine shouldbewipedoff promptly.DoNOT allow
debris to accumulate around the coolingfinsof the engineor onanyotherpartof
the machine.
IM PORTANT: Theuseof apressure washer to cleanyourtractorisNOT
recommended. It maycause damage to electrical c omponents, spindles, p ulleys,
bearings or the engine.

follow these instructions toutilize thisfeature.
Use theDeck W ash System
TM
torinse grass c lippings f romthedeck's u nderside and
prevent thebuildup ofcorrosive chemicals. Complete thefollowing steps AFTER
EACH M OWING:
Drive the tractorto a level, c learspotonyourlawn,nearenough foryour
gardenhoseto reach.
Makecertain the tractor's dischargechute isdirected AWAY from your house,
garage, parkedcars,etc.

Disengage
thePTO (Blade Engage), settheparking b rake and stop the
engine.
3.
Thread t hehose cou pier (packaged with yourtractor's Operator's
Manual)
ontotheend ofyour g arden hose.

Attach thehose withhose coupler tothewater portonthecutting deck
surface. See Figure 1 7.
Turn thewater o n.

Whilesitting inthe operator's positiononthe tractor,startthe engineand
placethe throttle leverinthe FAST ( rabbit)position.
7.
Movethe tractor'sPTO (Blade Engage) into the ONposition.
8.
Remain inthe operator's positionwith the cuttingdeckengaged fora
minimumof two minutes,allowingthe underside of the cuttingdeckto
thoroughlyrinse.
9.
Movethe tractor's PTO (Blade Engage) intothe 0FF position.
10.
Turnthe ignitionkeyto the STOP p ositionto turn the tractor'sengineoff.
11.
Turnthe wateroff anddetachthe hosecoupler f rom the waterporton your
deck'ssurface.
IMPORTANT:
After cleaning yourdeckwith the Deck WashSystem
TM
return
to the operator'spositionandengage the PTO. K eep the cutting deckrunning
for a minimumof two minutes,allowing the underside of the cutting deckto
thoroughlydry.
