Wireless Connection Problems

Basic: The wireless connection cannot be made: sometimes it
communicates and sometimes it does not. The communication speed
is extremely slow.
Possible Cause
The access point/wireless
computer power is off.
The radio wave transmission
of the access point/wireless
computer is out.
The setting of the access
point/wireless computer
does not match the printer.
The radio wave conditions
are bad or the arrival of the
radio waves is obstructed.
There are several access
points with the same SSID.
(Excluding when roaming)
Suggested Solution(s)
Make sure the power for the access point/
wireless computer is on.
• Check the settings for the access point/wireless
computer and set the radio wave transmission
for 802.11b/g to ON.
• The "11a Only Active" is sometimes selected on
access points/wireless computers of the
802.11a/b/g combination type.
• Check that the device driver of the wireless
computer is correctly installed and operating.
(Check that another wireless computer and
Ad-Hoc mode can communicate wirelessly.)
Test the connection in Open mode. See page 10
for more information.
Once the connection has been checked in Open
mode, change the setting in accordance with the
wireless LAN environment you are using: for
example, the WPA-PSK mode.
• Change the installation location or orientation of
the printer where the phenomenon is occurring.
• Change the installation location or orientation of
the access point/wireless computer.
• Check for a radio wave source in the vicinity
(cordless phone, microwave oven, etc.) and
turn off the power of unnecessary equipment
• Check the setting of the access points installed
in the vicinity.
• Check for hidden access points that the
administrator is unaware of, and access points
on adjacent floors/ buildings.
• Try changing the setting of the ptinter and
access point, so that it uses another SSID.
