THE TILLER
1.
Practiceturningthetiller in a level,open area. Be very carefulto
keepyourfeet and legsawayfrom the tines.

Tobegina turn, lift the handlebarsuntilthe tines are out of the
groundand the engineand tinesare balancedoverthewheels.
3.
Withthe tiller balanced,pushsidewayson the handlebarto steer
in the directionof the turn.After turning,slowlylowerthetines into

SETTING
THE DEPTH
Tillingdepthis controlledby the depthstakewhichcan be adjustedto
five differentsettings.Adjustthe side shieldsas youadjust thedepth
stake.
Whenusingthe tillerfor thefirst time,use the secondadjustment
hole fromthe top (1"of tillingdepth).
Whenbreakingup sod and for shallowcultivation,usethe setting
whichgives 1"of tillingdepth (secondhole from the top). Place
the sideshields in theirlowestposition.
Forfurther depth,raisethe depthstakeand side shieldsand also
makeone or two morepassesoverthe area.
Whentillingloosesoil, thedepth stakemaybe raisedto its
highestposition(usebottomadjustmenthole)to give the deepest
tillingdepth. Raisethe sideshieldsto their highestposition.
Totransporttiller, lowerthe depthstake(usetop adjustment
hole).
Toadjustthe depthstake,pull back on the depthadjustmentbracket
(A) and push up or down (B) until the bracketreachesthe desired
position,then releasethe bracket(C). See Figure9.
