Before asking for repairs

Slight differences in operation can sometimes be mistaken for malfunctions, so check the
following table before requesting any repairs.
If the following fail to solve the problem, contact your local retailer.
Symptom
The screen is dark for a brief period
when the power is turned on at low
temperatures.
The display is distorted for a brief
period after the power is turned on.
No sound comes out.
Sound comes out of only one side
(left or right, front or back).
Sound quality does not change
even after making adjustments.
A CD/DVD will not go into the deck.
A CD/DVD cannot be played.
Memory Stick playback not
possible

Audio is output, but not video.

Possible reason
This is a characteristic of LCDs.

included in the radio broadcast or
disc.
Power is not turned on.
A disc is already inserted and you
are trying to insert a second disc.
There is water condensation in the
deck.
There is a large scratch or warp in
the CD/DVD.
The CD/DVD is very dirty.
The CD/DVD is upside down.
The inserted CD/DVD type is not
supported.
The inserted Memory Stick Duo
type is not supported.

The CD changer is not completely
connected.

Corrective action
This is not a malfunction. Wait for a
brief period.

Press the volume switch and check
volume.
Check the connections of the
speaker cords.
Check the left/right volume
adjustments.
Check by changing the radio
station or disc.
Turn the vehicle ignition switch to
ACC or ON.
Eject the previously inserted CD/
DVD and insert the preferred CD/
DVD.
Do not use the deck for a while and
then try using it again. (See page

Insert a different CD/DVD.
Clean the CD/DVD.
