Set up a schedule for creating remote snapshots in the designated off-site locations. If your applic-
ation server uses multiple volumes that must be in sync, use a script to quiesce the application
before creating remote snapshots.
Create routine tape backups of the remote snapshots in the off-site locations.

How this works for affordable disaster recovery

If the storage systems in your primary location fail or volumes become unavailable, the off-site location
contains the most recent remote snapshots.
Use the remote snapshots to resume operations as shown in
tape backups, you can recover data from tape backups, as shown in
Only data written to the primary volumes since the last remote snapshot was created will be un-
available.
Application servers that were accessing the offline volumes will not be available until you recon-
figure them to access recovered data.
To resume operations using the most recent set of remote snapshots:

In the backup location, make the remote volume into a primary volume.
