Should this unit exhibit a problem, check the following before seeking service:
Symptom
Compact Disc Player
CD Player will not play.
CD skips while playing.
General
No sound.
Karaoke
Some vocals are still
present when AUTO
VOICE is off.
Feedback is heard
when singing.
Words do not appear
on TV screen.
Cassette Player
No sound.
Sound distorted.
Speed varies.
Cassette Recorder
Will not record.
Distorted sound
on playback.
Camera
Camera not working.

TROUBLESHOOTING GUIDE

Possible Cause
CD is not installed or installed
upside-down.
Disc is dirty or scratched.
Power cord disconnected.
Backup vocals are supposed
to be included.
Microphone is too close to unit
or MIC volume is too high.
Using non-CD+G disc.
Video cable not connected properly
to TV.
VIDEO OUT switch isn't set to CDG.
Source is not selected on TV.
A CD+G disc is playing but the CDG
indicator isn't on.
Function switch not set to TAPE.
Volume at minimum.
Dirty head.
Cassette old.
Cassette tape worn out.
Erase prevention tab removed.
Defective tape or dirty tape head.
MONITOR switch not set to CAMERA.
VIDEO OUT switch not set to
CAMERA (external TV).

Solution
Insert CD with label side up.
Wipe disc with cloth or use
another disc.
Connect power cord.
This is normal, only the main vocal(s)
are to be reduced.
Move microphone away from
unit or decrease MIC volume.
Use CD+G disc.
Check the connection as described
on pages 5-6.
Set the VIDEO OUT switch to CDG
position.
Change the TV video source to match
the location of your karaoke machine
connection. (i.e. VIDEO 1, AUX IN, etc.)
CD+G disc may need cleaning.
(See CARE AND MAINTENANCE
page 21.)
Slide to the TAPE position.
Increase volume.
Clean the head.
Replace the cassette.
Replace the cassette.
Cover hole with adhesive tape.
Replace tape or clean tape head.
Set MONITOR switch to CAMERA.
Set VIDEO OUT switch to the
CAMERA position.
