    It is recommended to update the firmware on the host system and on the connection device before setting up the connection.     IBM. An IBM part that replaces a removed part will assume the warranty service status of the removed part. An IBM part that is added to a Machine without replacing a previously-installed part is subject to warranty effective on its Date of Installation.

    During the warranty period, IBM provides repair and exchange service for the Machine under the type of warranty service IBM designates for the Machine. The warranty period for the Machine is a fixed period starting on its original Date of Installation.
