    INSTALLATION NOTICE: This heater is intended for use as supplemental heat. Use this heater along with your primary heating system. Do not install this heater as your pri- mary heat source. If you have a central heating system, you may run system’s circulating blower while using heater.

  • Page 13 INSTALLATION Continued For propane/LP units, the installer must supply an external regulator. The external regulator will reduce incoming gas pressure. You must reduce incoming gas pressure to between 11" and 14" of water. If you do not reduce incoming gas pres- sure, heater regulator damage could occur.
  • Page 14 INSTALLATION Continued CHECKING GAS CONNECTIONS WARNING: Test all gas piping and connections, internal and external to unit, for leaks after installing or servicing. Correct all leaks at once. WARNING: Never use an open flame to check for a leak. Apply a noncorrosive leak detec- tion fluid to all joints.

    OPERATING HEATER Continued OpTIONAL HAND-HELD REMOTE OpERATION All remote control accessories must be pur- chased separately (see Accessories, page 25). Follow instructions included with the remote control. NOTICE: You must light the pilot before using the hand-held re- mote control unit. See Lighting Instructions on page 16.

    OPERATING HEATER Continued Note: Do not leave the hand-held remote in the AUTO mode close to the fireplace. The radiant heat from the fireplace will turn off the fireplace. Ideally, place the hand-held remote in the center of the room facing towards the fireplace. Note: Do not hold the hand-held remote for a long time.

    INSPECTING bURNERS Continued BURNER PRIMARY AIR HOLES Air is drawn into the burner through the holes in the fitting at the burner entrance. These holes may become blocked with dust or lint. Periodically inspect these holes for any blockage and clean if needed.
