    This instrument has a USB port, which can be linked by USB cable to a computer running ® Windows for exchange of MIDI data. To be able to use the USB function, you need to install the USB MIDI driver on your computer. This User’s Guide provides information about using the USB MIDI driver.

    2. What is the USB MIDI driver? The USB MIDI driver is software that makes it possible for the instrument to exchange MIDI application software* with a computer. Your computer must have the USB MIDI driver installed in order to exchange data with the instrument over a USB connection.

    6. Installing the USB MIDI Driver In order to use the instrument’s USB function, you must first install the USB MIDI driver on a computer that is equipped with a USB port. 6.1 Installing Under Windows XP Without connecting the USB cable and with the instrument turned off, start up Windows on your computer.
  • Page 8 This displays the Found New Hardware Wizard on your computer screen. • If the message “Can Windows connect to Windows Update to search for software?” appears here, select “No, not this time” and then click Next. Select Install the software automatically (Recommended) and then click Next.
  • Page 9 On the Windows Start menu click Control Panel. Click the System icon. On the dialog box that appears, click the Hardware tab, and then click the Driver Signing button. On the dialog box that appears, select Warn, and then click OK.

    6.2 Installing Under Windows 2000 Without connecting the USB cable and with the instrument turned off, start up Windows on your computer. Log on using an Administrators group account. See the documentation that comes with Windows 2000 for information about the Administrators group. Quit all applications running on your computer, except for Adobe Reader or Acrobat Reader.
  • Page 12 Select Search for a suitable driver for my device (recommended) and then click Next. Select the location you want to search for the driver. Select CD-ROM drives and make sure that no other options are selected. Click Next. This displays the Driver Files Search Results.

    6.4 Installing Under Windows 98 or Windows 98SE The following shows how to install the driver under Windows 98SE. Installing under Windows 98 is virtually identical. Without connecting the USB cable and with the instrument turned off, start up Windows on your computer. Quit all applications running on your computer, except for Adobe Reader or Acrobat Reader.
  • Page 18 Next. The next screen that appears shows that CASIO USB MIDI is the device driver file to be searched for. Click Next. This causes a message to appear telling you that new software installation is complete.

    7. Connecting to a Computer After installing the USB MIDI driver, you can use a USB cable to connect the instrument to your computer at any time. After connecting, you can play the instrument using Windows Media Player, and you can record and playback on the instrument from a MIDI sequencer application or some other MIDI application software.
