Two-Way Text Messages

Your phone can send and receive short messages.

Setting Up

Before you begin using Two-Way Text Messages,
you may need to set up your signature, service
center number, and expiration information:
1 From the main menu, select Messages.
2 Scroll to Text Inbox.
3 Press m .
4 Select Text Msg Setup.
5 Select Signature.
Enter your signature. It may be up to 11
characters long. See "Entering Text" on page
48. When you are finished, press O .
6 Select Srvc Cntr No.
Enter the phone number of your service center.
If you do not know this number, contact
Southern LINC.
When you are finished, press O .
7 Select Expire After.

This is the amount of time messages you send
are saved at the service center if they cannot be
delivered. After this period, they are discarded.
Scroll to select the number of days you want
your messages to be saved.
When you are finished, press O .
8 Select Auto Clean Up. Set this option to On if
you want your phone to delete sent messages.
If you set Auto Clean Up to On, select Clean
Up After to set the number of days after which
sent messages are deleted or the number of
messages to be kept.
9 Press A under Done to save the information
you entered.

Receiving a Message

To view the message:
Press A under Read.
To dismiss the message notification:
Press A under Exit.
If your phone is powered off when you receive a
text message, your phone notifies you the next
time you power it on. If you are out of your
coverage area, your phone alerts you when you
return to your coverage area.
