Firmware update: Download/Install instructions for NS‐2BRDVD & NS‐BDLIVE01 
 
System requirements:  a computer with an open USB port, USB flash drive (stick), broadband internet 
access and operating software of Windows XP and newer or Mac OS 10.3 or newer. This option is not 
recommended with dial‐up or DSL service with a bit rate lower than 256kbps. If the instructions 
provided below do not help, call Insignia Customer Support at (877) 467‐4289 for assistance. 
First:  Download the compressed update file 
1. Click on the link to the file: if and save the file to your desktop. 
Note: File size is approximately 37 MB. Estimated download time is 3‐4 minutes (download time 
will vary based on your connection speed). 
2. Insert a blank USB flash drive (stick) that is formatted in FAT32 into the open USB port on your 
computer (USB flash drive must not contain any other files etc.). 
3.  Uncompress the file from your desktop, and then save the uncompressed files to your USB flash 
drive (stick). 
4. After saving the firmware to your USB flash drive; remove the USB flash drive from your 
computer. 
Second:  Upgrading the Player Software with a USB Flash Drive (Stick) 
1. Turn on the player and eject any disks that may be in the player, and remove any USB flash drive 
already inserted in the player. 
2. Insert the USB flash drive containing the firmware that was downloaded into the player's USB 
port located on the back of the player. 
3. After the player has recognized the USB flash drive (stick), a screen similar to the one below will 
appear:

  • Page 2 4. Using your remote control highlight USB (if not already highlighted) and press enter on the  remote.  A screen similar to the one below will appear (see photo below).      5. Make sure the box next to “OK” is highlighted, and then press enter on your remote control. The  software update will begin (see photo below).  Note:  DO NOT TURN THE POWER OFF DURING THE UPDATE  Note:  During the software update, a timer will count down the approximate number of minutes  and seconds remaining for the update.           ...
  • Page 3 6. Once the update has completed, a screen similar to the one shown below will appear:        7. Remove the USB flash drive (stick) from the player.  8. Press enter on your remote control.  9. The player will automatically restart after removing the USB flash drive (stick).    Note:  It is recommended that you erase/delete the update file from the USB flash drive using    your computer prior to using the USB flash drive again.     Note: If you experience any issues while performing this upgrade, call Insignia Customer Support    at (877) 467‐4289 for assistance or to receive this firmware update on a disk.         ...
