Regular r emoval ofthatch is critical t omaintenance ofa

ADJUSTMENT OFTINESHIELD
• Move thetowing vehicleontoa level s urface, such
asa driveway o r garage floorandattach thetine
dethatcher tothevehicle hitch. S eefigure7.
Lower t hedethatcher intooperating p osition using the
lifthandle. L oosen thetwonylock nutsandcarriage
boltswhichfasten the hitchmount a rmstothehitch
armmount b rackets a ttherearofthetineshield.
Adjust t hetineshielduntilit is level a ndboththefront
andrearspring tinesarein contact w iththeground.
Retighten t hehexnuts. S eefigure7.
OPERATING T IPS
Varythevehicle's f orward speed untilthebest
dethatching a ction is achieved.
Forbestresults, usea crisscross p attern onyour
lawn.
Ifthedethatcher appears tobe"jumping" during
use,thenextra weight s hould beaddedtothetine
shield. I nmostconditions e xtra weight w illbe needed.
Concrete p atioblocks arerecommended forweight
because oftheirlowprofile; h owever anytypeof
weight i s suitable if itcanbetieddown to theshield.
Secure weight b y using suitable binding material s uch
as rubber t ie down straps orwire,fastening t othe
holesintheshieldflange.Seefigure8.

Before each use check all nuts and bolts for tightness.
Lubricate wheels at least once a year or as needed.
If rust appears on the shield or spring tines, sand
lightly and coat with enamel paint.
Always store in a dry area, and coat exposed metal
with light oil when not in use.
To remove a spring tine, insert a screw driver or
punch into the locking tab and pry up. Replace spring
tine and pry tab down. See figure 9.
