What is a Hotwire 8343/8344 Packet SDSL Card?

A Hotwirer 8343/8344 Packet Symmetric Digital Subscriber Line (SDSL) card is a
circuit card assembly (CCA) that contains 24 ports, an interface to the Network
Service Provider (NSP), and a processor.

When the 8343/8344 Packet SDSL card is used in a Hotwire Digital Subscriber
Line Access Multiplexer (DSLAM) or 8820 GranDSLAM chassis and connected to
a Hotwire 6341/6342 DSL Router, it provides high-speed Internet or intranet
access over traditional twisted-pair telephone wiring.

- Page 2 Refer to one of the above installation documents to: — Install and set up the Hotwire DSLAM or GranDSLAM — Install the Hotwire 8343/8344 Packet SDSL Card — Connect cables After the SDSL card is installed, there are configuration procedures that must be performed before you can begin to use the SDSL cards for Internet or intranet connectivity.
- Page 3 1. If there is a filler plate covering the slot, remove it. 2. Insert the card into the card guides of the slot on the chassis. For the 8343 SDSL card in an 8610 DSLAM, ensure that the components are facing up.
- Page 4 8343 SDSL card failure. System processing functions have stopped. No power to card. Alrm Yellow, On Alarm is present on the 8343 SDSL card. Ethernet (ETH1) interface is not being detected. Normal operation, no alarms. Test Yellow, On Test in progress.
- Page 5 13-24 1-12 ALT BANK SDSL 10/100BT 8344 99-16538-01 8343-A2-GZ40-00 LED is . . . Indicating . . . Green, Card functioning normally. Winking describes a Winking recurring pulse when the LED is ON longer than OFF at a ratio of approximately 10:1.
