Laptop External Video Port Activation
Most laptop manufacturers have a method for activating the
external monitor (VGA) port.
For IBM compatible computers, activating the VGA port is
usually accomplished using the function (Fn) key on the
laptop keyboard in conjunction with one of the regular
function keys, for example, hold down the Fn key while
pressing F12. Some laptops require a reboot to allow the
computer to check for an attached external monitor and
then activate the external port.
The following chart describes the methods used by the listed
manufacturers to activate the external video port. Some
manufacturers have several models that require different
activation methods, those methods are listed.
Some laptops require that the operator access a setup menu
that will allow activation of the external video port.
