Such damage will not be covered by your
New Vehicle Limited Warranty.
- If you put any amount of incorrect fue l in
t he fue l tank, do not start the engine un-
der any circumstances. Immediately con-
tact the nearest author ized Audi dealer
or authorized Audi Service Facility for as-
sistance. These fuels contain substances
that can severely damage the fuel sys-
tem and the engin e if the engine is start-
ed.

Fuel filler neck
The fuel filler neck is located on the right rear
side panel behind the fuel filler flap.
If the power locking system should fail, you
can st ill open the flap manually - for detai led
instructions see ¢ page
221.
You can find the fue l t ank capacity of your ve-
hicle in ¢ page

The label on t he inside of the fuel filler flap
tells you the correct fuel for your vehicle. For
more information about fuel specificat ions,
see ¢ page
217 .
Your vehicle fuel ta nk has an on board refue l-
ling vapor recovery system . This feature helps
to prevent fuel vapors from escaping from the
tank and polluting the environment while you
refuel your vehicle. In order to fill the tank
properly while protect ing the environment,
please follow t his refueling procedure careful-
ly.

WARNING
Under norma l operating condit ions, never
carry add itiona l fuel containe rs in your car.
Gas caniste rs and other containe rs used t o
t ransport fue l can be dange rous. Such con-
t ainers, full or empty, may lea k and could
cause a fire in a collision . If you must
transport fue l to use for your lawn mower,
snow blower, etc., be very carefu l and al-
ways observe local and state laws regard-
ing the use, transportat ion and storage of

such fuel containe rs. Make certa in the con-
tainer meets industry standa rds (ANSI/
ASTM F852 - 86).

Note
Never drive your vehicle until the fuel tank
is completely empty. The irreg ular supply
of fue l can cause misfir ing. Gasoline could
enter t he exhaust system and damage the
catalytic converter .

When act ivat ing the centra l locking, the fuel
filler flap is automatically unlocked or locked.
Refuel the vehicle wit h t he ignition switched
off.
Taking the fuel cap off
