  • Page 8 REPLACING THE HANDSET BATTERIES SPARE BATTERY CHARGER Your VTech 914 ADLi is equipped with a spare battery charger built-in to the base unit. The spare battery charger allows you to always have a charged battery available, should your handset battery discharge during normal use.

    GETTING STARTED Setting Up Your VTECH 914 ADLi Choose an area near an electrical outlet and a telephone wall jack. 9V DC TEL.LINE SETTING UP YOUR VTECH 914ADLi TELEPHONE ELECTRICAL WALL OUTLET JACK Connect the telephone line cord. Insert one end of the telephone line cord into the jack at the rear of the base unit.
  • Page 10 GETTING STARTED CAUTION: Never install telephone wiring during a lightning storm. Never install telephone jacks in wet locations unless the jack is specifically designed for wet locations. Never touch uninsulated telephone wires or terminals unless the tel- ephone line has been discon- nected at the network interface.

    WALL MOUNTING Choose a spot near an electri- cal outlet and a telephone jack. Your phone requires a modular telephone jack and a standard electrical outlet (120v AC). The power cord is six feet long; make sure there is an electrical outlet within reach of the base.

    OPERATING INSTRUCTIONS IMPORTANT: Whenever the handset batteries are removed, the handset must be reinitialized on the base unit cradle after the batteries are replaced. The IN USE LED on the base unit will flash during the initialization. Making Calls Pick up the handset and press PHONE.

Record your memo. • Stop recording by pressing the STOP key again. • If you go beyond the 1 minute limit, or if there is 7 seconds of silence, the ITAD will automatically stop and you will hear, “End of recording”.

    ITAD OPERATION Speak in the direction of the base to record a memo of up to 60 seconds in length. Press the key to stop recording. If time expires or more than 7s silence or memory is full, the ITAD will stop recording automatically.

    ITAD OPERATION • All reviewed messages for a particular mailbox, can be deleted by pressing and holding the ERASE key until you hear, “All old messages deleted.” Note: The ERASE function will only delete old or reviewed messages. New messages CANNOT be deleted until they are reviewed.
