Recording and Playback using the CHARACTER
REVERSE
switch
By emphasizing the levels of the input signal's high range during record-
ing and by de-emphasizing by the same amount during playback, tape
hiss can be reduced by the same amount.
By using the CHARACTER
REVERSE
switch during playback, the emphasized characteristics can
be reversed to be come a de-emphasized
characteristics without touch-
ing the Channel Frequency Level controls.
Recording
Turn ON the EQUALIZER
switch.
. Turn OFF { BL) the REC switch.
Set the tape deck to recording standby mode.
. Adjust the Channel
Frequency
Level controls over 1 kHz to empha-
size the input signal's high range.
Adjust the recording input level of the tape deck and then put the
tape deck into recording mode.

Do not touch the Channel Frequency Level controls.
6. Turn ON ( =) the TAPE MONITOR switch.
7. Turn ON ( -m=) the CHARACTER
REVERSE switch.
8. Rewind the tape and begin playback.
