3. PRECAUTIONS FOR USE

What kind of water do I use?
The appliance is used with lime-free water. Use a commercially-available demineralised water.
Failure to comply with this recommendation will result in poorer performance of your appliance.
Scaling of your product is not covered by the warranty.
Never use water containing additives (starch, perfume, aromatic substances, softener, etc.), nor water
from the heating/cooling systems or condensation (for example water from clothes driers, water from
refrigerators, water from air conditioners, rainwater).
SteamPod still works when the water tank is empty, but for
optimal results, use SteamPod with demineralized water.
What temperature do I use for which service?
3 temperature levels: 180°C – 200°C – 210°C.
Adjust the temperature to your hair type.
The temperature of 210° can be used on the following hair types: natural/thick/strong, not coloured/
not highlighted.
How do I fill the tank?
Remove it by pressing the two buttons at the bottom of the tank then lift it up. Once removed, lift the
tab and fill the tank up to the maximum level using your bottle of demineralised water.
How do I put the tank back in?
Put the front of the tank in place then press on the back to snap it in place.
What kind of comb do I use?
Choose the comb best suited to your hair type :
- Fine tooth comb: for Type I to IV hair on the L'Oréal scale* (straight to wavy);
- Intermediate comb: for Type V hair on the L'Oréal scale* (curly hair);
- Wide-tooth comb: for Type VI & VII on the L'Oréal* scale (very curly to kinky).
Some looks (S Waves, crimped hair styles...) require to remove the comb.
Do NOT touch the comb until the device has coolen down.
*L'Oréal to Walker scale correspondence:
- Fine tooth comb: type 1A to 2C ;
- Intermediate comb: type 3A to 3C;
- Wide tooth comb: type 4A to 4C.
When do I use the protective covers?
Put the protective covers on the appliance while straightening. Unput the protective covers while
curling. Do NOT touch the protective covers before the appliance is cold

This product is repairable by ROWENTA during and after the guarantee period.
Accessories, Consumables and end-user replaceable parts can be purchased, if locally available, as
described on the ROWENTA internet site.
The Guarantee
This product is guaranteed by ROWENTA against any manufacturing defect in materials or
workmanship for 2 (two) years for use by the general public and 1 (one) year for professional use (in
accordance with current law).
The international manufacturer's guarantee by ROWENTA is an extra benefit which does not affect
consumer's Statutory Rights.

The international manufacturer's guarantee covers all costs related to restoring the proven defective
product so that it conforms to its original specifications, through the repair or replacement of any
defective part and the necessary labour. At ROWENTA's choice, a replacement product may be
provided instead of repairing a defective product. ROWENTA's sole obligation and your exclusive
resolution under this guarantee are limited to such repair or replacement.
Conditions & Exclusions
The international ROWENTA guarantee only applies within the guarantee period and for those
countries listed in the Country List attached and is valid only on presentation of a proof of purchase.
The product can be taken directly in person to an authorised service centre or must be adequately
packaged and returned, by recorded delivery (or equivalent method of postage), to a ROWENTA
authorised service centre. Full address details for each country's authorised service centres are listed
on ROWENTA website (www.rowenta.com) or by calling the appropriate telephone number as set out
in the Country List to request the appropriate postal address.
ROWENTA shall not be obliged to repair or replace any product which is not accompanied by a valid
proof of purchase.
This guarantee will not cover any damage which could occur as a result of misuse, negligence, failure
to follow ROWENTA instructions, use on current or voltage other than as stamped on the product,
or a modification or unauthorised repair of the product. It also does not cover normal wear and tear,
maintenance or replacement of consumable parts, or the following:
- using the wrong type of water or consumable
- scaling (any de-scaling must be carried out according to the instructions for use)
- ingress of water, dust or insects into the product
- mechanical damages, overloading
- damages or bad results due to wrong voltage or frequency
- accidents including fire, flood, thunderbolt etc
- professional or commercial use
- damage to any glass or porcelain ware in the product
- stains due to hair colouring products
This guarantee does not apply to any product that has been tampered with, or to damages incurred
through improper use and care, faulty packaging by the owner or mishandling by any carrier.
The international ROWENTA guarantee applies only for products used in any of the listed countries
where the specific product is sold.
Consumer Statutory Rights
This international ROWENTA guarantee does not affect the statutory rights a consumer may have or
those rights that cannot be excluded or limited, nor rights against the retailer from which the consumer
purchased the product. This guarantee gives a consumer specific legal rights, and the consumer may
also have other legal rights which vary from State to State or Country to Country. The consumer may
assert any such rights at his sole discretion.

5. TROUBLESHOOTING

THE HAIR IS NOT PROPERLY STRAIGHTENED:
• Have you used the appliance the right way round? (Steam outlets and comb pointing to the
ends of the hair)
• Did you go slowly enough on the lock of hair?
• Did you use Steampod cosmetics?
• Have you completely dried the hair beforehand?
• Have you selected the correct temperature?
• Is the appliance producing steam? NO
• Have you correctly filled the tank? Fill it and close the clamp until the steam comes out.
• Did you press the tank in correctly until you heard it click?
• Has the appliance reached its temperature? Wait until the selected temperature figure is
no longer flashing.
STEAM NOT VISIBLE:
• In a very humid environment, steam may not be seen but will still be effective.
THE APPLIANCE IS NOT HEATING UP:
• Have you checked that the appliance is not in power safe mode?
ALL THE LIGHTS ARE FLASHING:
• If all the temperature lights are flashing simultaneously: take your appliance to an Approved
Service Center.
THE TOP PLATE IS NOT FIXED
• This is normal, the appliance is equipped with a movable plate for more efficient straightening.
YOUR APPLIANCE ISSUES WATER FROM THE STEAM OUTLETS
• Take your appliance to an Approved Service Center.
YOUR APPLIANCE IS LEAKING:
• Unplug it immediately. take your appliance to an Approved Service Center.
THE STEAM FROM THE STEAMPOD STOPS FROM TIME TO TIME
• This is normal, the appliance has been designed to regulate steam with a controlled flow.
6. PARTICIPATE IN PROTECTING THE ENVIRONMENT!
