WHAT'S NEW UNDER THE LID?

Your new washing machine will operate differently than your old agitator washing machine.
Lid Lock
For faster spin speeds, the lid will lock and the Lid Lock
light will illuminate. When this light is on, the lid is locked
and cannot be opened. When this light is flashing, the
washing machine is paused. When this light is off, the
lid can be opened. If you need to open the lid to add a
garment after this, the washing machine lid will remain
unlocked throughout the agitation period of the wash
phase. The cycle will automatically pause when the lid is
opened, and the cycle will resume when the lid is closed.
The lid will lock before the juicing phase begins. If you
need to pause or stop after this, you must press
START/PAUSE and wait for the lid to unlock. The lid will
only unlock once the movement of the washing machine
has stopped. Depending on when you try to pause the
cycle, it may take several seconds to several minutes
for the lid to unlock. Press START/PAUSE to resume the
cycle.
Detection
This washing machine will perform a series of spins to
check the balance of the load. At this time, a series of
clicking sounds and a buzzing signal are heard indicating
that the detection technology is determining if there is an
unbalanced load.
Common Sounds You Can Expect
At different stages of the wash cycle, you may hear
sounds and noises that are different from your previous
washing machine. For example, you may hear a clicking
and humming sound at the beginning of the juicing
phase, when the lid latch performs a self-check. Different
types of humming noises will be heard while the agitator
checks the balance of the load or moves the load.
Sometimes you won't hear anything as the washing
machine determines the proper water level for your load
and soaks for a while.
IMPORTANT:
■ The lid must be closed before the basket is filled with water and the wash cycle begins. If the lid is open and filling stops, close the
lid and press START/PAUSE to complete the cycle.
■ The Fabric Softener option should be set to "Yes" when using fabric softener in the fabric softener dispenser. This ensures that the
fabric softener is added at the correct time during the rinse phase and that it is evenly distributed.

Selecting the right detergent
Use only high-performance detergents. The package will
be marked "HE" or "High Efficiency". Using a non-HE
detergent will likely result in longer cycle times and lower
rinse performance.
It can also cause component malfunction and, over time,
mold and mildew. High Efficiency (HE) detergents must be
low foaming and disperse quickly to produce the proper
amount of foam for optimum performance. They hold
soil in suspension so that it does not redeposit on clean
clothes. Not all detergents labeled as high performance
are identical in their formula and their ability to reduce
suds. For example, natural, organic, or household
high-performance detergents can generate high levels
of suds. Always follow the manufacturer's instructions to
determine the amount of detergent to use.
Use only high-efficiency (HE) detergent.
Spray rinse
Some cycles default to a spray rinse. During these cycles,
you will hear water entering the washing machine as the
tub spins, allowing rinse water to soak into the clothes.
Refer to the "Cycle Guide" for details.
