Chapter 2. Macintosh Installation

This chapter describes how you can use your scanner with your Macintosh computer.

Connect the Scanner to Your Computer

1. Connect the FireWire cable to your Macintosh's FireWire port and connect the other end of the
FireWire cable to the scanner.
2. Connect the power cord to the scanner. And connect the other end of the power cord to a
grounded power socket.
3. Turn on the scanner power.
4. Turn on the computer power.

Installing the Software

Install the software in the following order:
1. Image Application Software, e.g. Adobe PhotoShop.
2. Then MagicScan.
3. Then binuscan PhotoPerfect if needed.
MagicScan is the interface used by application software to control UMAX scanners. Its advanced
controls allow precise adjustments in images even during the initial scan.
