a risk that you may not be able to operate your
POCKETSTUDIO 5. If you experience any problems
while updating the software, consult your TASCAM
dealer.
P r e s s a n d h o l d t h e E N T E R k e y o n t h e
POCKETSTUDIO 5 and turn on the POCKETSTUDIO
5 while holding the ENTER key. The screen shows
"USB Mode" – you can now release the ENTER key.
After a short while, the POCKETSTUDIO 5 will
appear as a removable drive on your computer.
N O T E : I f y o u a r e u p g r a d i n g a n e x i s t i n g
POCKETSTUDIO 5, now is the time to back up your
songs and data.
Copy the UTILITY.LDR file and the UTILITY folder
(containing two files) to the POCKETSTUDIO 5
"drive".
Eject the POCKETSTUDIO 5 (Command-E) or drag it
to the Trash.
W h e n t h e i c o n d i s a p p e a r s , t u r n o f f t h e
POCKETSTUDIO 5 and disconnect the USB cable.

Upgrading the software

Press and hold down the REW and RECORD
keys. While holding them down, turn on the
POCKETSTUDIO 5. The screen shows
UTILITY 1.02
>FPRG100
Press the ENTER key. The screen briefly shows
Loading... and then changes:
PRG UPDATER 1.00
>PS5PRG.113
Press ENTER once again. The screen now shows:
File:PS5PRG
1.01 -> 1.13
Are you sure ?

Press ENTER one more time. The software starts
updating:
File:PS5PRG.113
1.01 -> 1.13
Writing..[01/15]

The update operation will take up to 10 minutes
or so to complete
IMPORTANT: DO NOT turn off or unplug the
POCKETSTUDIO 5 while this operation is taking
place.
You cannot use the POCKETSTUDIO while the
operation is taking place. Do not connect or
disconnect any equipment until the update
operation is finished.
When the operation is finished, the POCKETSTUDIO
5 automatically reboots and the screen shows:
