Most Sears stores can order these items for you when you provide the model number of your tractor. Use the correct tools as necessary to insure proper tightness. TOOLS REQUHRED FOR ASSEMBLY A socket wrench set will make assembly easier.

  • Page 12 The operation of any tractor can result in foreign objects thrown into the eyes, which can result in severe eye damage. Always wear safety glasses or eye shields while operating your tractor or performing any adjustments or repairs. We recommend a wide vision safety mask over the spectacles or standard safety glasses.

    CAUTION: Do not operate the mower without either the entire grass catcher, on mowers so equipped, charg e guard in place. FIG, 9 TO OPERATE ON HILLS hills with slopes greater than 15 ° and CAUTION: Do not drive up or down do not drive across any slope.
  • Page 14 TO START ENGINE (See Fig. 7) When starting the engine for the first time or if the engine has run out of fuel, itwill take extra cranking time to move fuel from the tank to the engine. • Be sure freewheel control is in the transmission engaged position.
  • Page 15 NIOWING TIPS Tire chains cannot be used when the mower housing is attached to tractor. Mower should be properIy leveled for best mowing performance. See "TO LEVEL MOWER HOUSING" in the Service and Adjustments section of this manual,. The left hand side of mower should be used for trim- ming.

BRAKE OPERATION If tractor requires more than six (6) feet stopping distance at high speed in highest gear, then brake must be adjusted..   • Page 23 SERVBCE AN ,,,,,,, TO ADJUST MOTION CONTROL (See Fig. 28) The motion control lever has been preset at the factory and adjustment should not be necessary° If for any reason the motion control lever will not hold its position while at a selected speed, it may be adjusted at the friction pack located on the right side of transmission.
