    Chapter 3 Quick Installation Guide After connecting the TL-R488T router into your network, you should configure it. This chapter describes how to configure the basic functions of your TL-R488T Load Balance Broadband Router. These procedures only take you a few minutes. You can access the Internet via the router immediately after it has been successfully configured.

    WAN Index - This shows the Router's WAN ports. Port Status - This shows the ports' current status: Enabled (default) or Disabled. Flow Control - This shows the function of Flow Control is Enabled or Disabled. Negotiation Mode - The options are: Auto Negotiation, 10M Half Duplex, 10M Full Duplex, 100M Half Duplex, and 100M Full Duplex.

    The router is set up by default as a DHCP (Dynamic Host Configuration Protocol) server, which provides the TCP/IP configuration for all the PCs that are connected to the router on the LAN. DHCP Server - Enable or disable the DHCP server. If you disable the Server, you must have another DHCP server within your network or else you must manually configure the computer.

    Time - Enter your local time in HH/MM/SS into the right blanks. Preferable NTP Server - Enter the address for the NTP Server, then the Router will get the time from the Preferable NTP Server firstly. In addition, the Router built-in some common NTP Servers, so it can get time automatically once it connects the Internet.

    To configure the system automatically: Step 1: Select your local time zone. Step 2: Enter the IP address for Preferable NTP Server, then the Router will get the time from the Preferable NTP Server firstly (you can leave it blank also).

    When you upgrade the router's firmware, you may lose its current configurations, so please back up the router’s current settings before you upgrade its firmware. Do not turn off the router or press the Reset button while the firmware is being upgraded. The router will reboot after the upgrading has been finished.
