Checking the Engine Oil Level
1. Park the machine on a level surface.

(Fig. 27).
6. Slide the oil dipstick fully into the filler tube, but do not

Important
Do not overfill the crankcase with oil and
run the engine; engine damage can result.
Changing the Engine Oil
1. Start the engine and let it run five minutes. This warms
the oil so that it drains better.
2. Park the machine so that the drain side is slightly lower
than the opposite side to ensure that the oil drains
completely.
3. Disengage the blade control (PTO) lever and set the
parking brakes.
4. Place a pan below the oil drain. Remove the oil drain
plug (Fig. 28).

(refer to Service Interval/Specification, page 27) into
the filler cap (Fig. 27).
7. Check the oil level; refer to Checking the Engine Oil
Level, page 28.
8. Slowly add the additional oil to bring it to the Full
mark.
Changing the Oil Filter
Replace the oil filter after every 100 operating hours or
every other oil change.
Note: Change the oil filter more frequently when the
operating conditions are extremely dusty or sandy.
1. Drain the oil from the engine; refer to Changing the
Engine Oil, page 28.
2. Remove the old filter and wipe the filter adapter
(Fig. 29) gasket surface.
