  • Page 14 TO ADJUST MOWERCUTTINGHEIGHT The positionof the attachmentliftlever determinesthe cuttingheight. • Grasp lift lever. • Press plunger with thumb and move lever to desired position. The cutting height range is approximate- ly 1-1/2 to 4". The heights are measured from the ground to the blade tip with the engine not running.

    • Remove oil till cap/dipstick and wipe clean, minsert the dipstick and screw cap tight, wait for a few seconds, remove and read oil level. If necessary, add oil until "FULL" mark on dipstick is reached. Do not overfill. • For cold weather operation you should change oil for easier starting (See "OIL VISCOSITY CHAR-r"...

BRAKEOPERATION If tractorrequiresmorethan six (6) feet stoppingdistanceat highspeed in highest gear,thenbrakemustbe adjusted.(See "TO ADJUST BRAKE" in the Service and Adjustments section of this manual). TIRES • Maintain proper air pressure in all tires (See "PRODUCT SPECIFICATIONS section of this manual).
  • Page 19 • Keep battery and terminals clean. • Keep battery bolts tight. • Keep small vent holes open. • Recharge at 6-10 amperes for 1 hour. NOTE: The original equipment battery on your tractor is maintenance free. Do not attempt to open or remove caps or covers. Adding or checking level of electrolyte is not necessary.

  • Page 22 TO LEVELMOWER HOUSING Adjust the mower while tractor is parked on level ground or driveway. Make sure tires are properly inflated (See =PROD- UCT SPECIFICATIONS" section of this manual). If tires are over or underinflat- ed, you will not properly adjust your mower.

  • Page 24 TRANSAXLE SHIFTER LINKAGE ADJUSTMENT The transaxle should be in neutral when the gear shift lever is in the neutral (N) (lock gate) position. The adjustment is preset at the factory; however, if adjust- ment is needed, proceed as follows: • Make sure transaxle is in neutral (N). •...
  • Page 25 "Pos=t=ve" Negative ( ) REPLACING BATTERY _CAUTION: Do not short battery termi- nals by allowing a wrench or any other object to contact both terminals at the same time. Before connecting battery, remove metal bracelets, wristwatch bands,rings,etc. Positive terminal must be connected first to prevent sparking from accidental grounding.
  • Page 26 • Remove air cleaner cover, filter and car- tridge plate to expose carburetor choke (see =AIR FILTER" in the Customer Responsibilities section of this manual). • Choke should be closed. If it is not, loosen casing clamp screw and move choke cable until choke is completely closed.
