Spraying System Operates Incorrectly

FAILURE MODE
Spraying pattern in uneven or spraying
system does not operate.

CAUSE OF PROBLEM
The spray nozzle tips are out of position. Ensure the spray nozzles are not
The pressure relief valve is set
incorrectly.
The strainer or tip is clogged.
The filter is clogged.
The pump won't operate.
Hoses are kinked.
Spray tank volume is low.
The engine speed is too low.
The pump is worn or damaged.
CORRECTIVE ACTION
damaged or that the nozzle mounting tab
is not bent.
Verify that the pressure gauge reads
approximately 20 psi at full engine speed
when spraying. Adjust the pressure relief
knob in or out to obtain this pressure.
Tighten the locking nut against the
pressure relief knob.
Remove the spray nozzle tip. Inspect the
tip orifice and the strainer to ensure they
are not clogged. Clean or replace these
components as necessary.
Remove the sediment from the filter
housing and inspect the filter screen.
Clean or replace the screen as
necessary.
Inspect the pump fuse located in the fuse
box. Ensure that either the spray pump
ON/OFF console switch activates the
pump.
Smooth out hoses and use wire ties to
make sure that they do not kink again.
Refill the spray tank. Note that in very
rough or hilly conditions, the liquid in the
spray tanks may slosh around and the
tank discharge tube may starve when
the tank level is low. This can cause poor
spraying performance.
Operate the machine at full engine
speed. The spray system is designed
to operate most efficiently at full engine
speed.
Replace the pump.
