LM60EVM
This user's guide describes the characteristics, operation, and use of the LM60EVM evaluation board. This
user's guide discusses the hardware, how to set up and configure the software, and reviews various aspects of
the software operation. Throughout this document, the terms evaluation board, evaluation module, and EVM are
synonymous with the LM60EVM. This user's guide also provides information on the operating procedure, input
and output connections, an electrical schematic, printed circuit board (PCB) layout drawings, and a parts list for
the EVM.

    All trademarks are the property of their respective owners. 1 Overview The LM60EVM allows users to evaluate the performance of the LM60 analog temperature sensor. The EVM comes in a USB stick form factor for control and data logging, and has an onboard MSP430F5528 microcontroller that connects the host computer and the analog interface of the LM60 device.

    LM60EVM occurs at any point. 2.5 BSL Button The LM60EVM features push-button SW1 for entering USB BSL mode. This can be used for any necessary firmware updates. This method is preferred over the use of the Spy-Bi-Wire programming header for firmware loading.

    2.7 EVM Operating Conditions The LM60EVM power is supplied through the USB connector. The LDO (U1) converts the 5 V from the USB to 3.3 V used by the LM60 and the MSP430. The EVM may be directly inserted into a USB port on a PC or laptop, or may be connected to the latter using an appropriate USB cable.

    Software Download 3 Software Download The PC GUI Software for LM60EVM runs on TI's GUI Composer framework. The software is available as a live ® version that runs in a browser and as a download for offline use. The software is compatible with Microsoft ®...

    • Every 60 s Additionally, the LM60EVM comes equipped with a firmware-based, low-pass filter to remove noise that can cause erroneous temperature measurements. This method eliminates the need for implementing an extra resistor and capacitor. The alpha value controls how much noise is filtered out. An alpha value of 1 (default) will behave like no filter is being used.
