q Spool
w Spool holder
e Presser foot lifter
z Raise the presser foot.
Press the Up/Down needle position button to
bring the take-up lever to its highest position.
Turn the power switch OFF.
Draw the end of the thread with your left hand and
hook around the upper thread guide while holding
the thread at the spool with your right hand. Pass
the thread down into the slot.
r Upper thread guide
t Slot
x Draw the end of the thread down around the thread
guide plate and draw it up to the left.
Make sure the thread slips in between the tension
disks.
y Thread guide plate
u Tension disks
c Firmly draw the thread up to the take-up lever,
and down into the eye of the thread take-up lever
from the right to left.
i Thread take-up lever
v Pass the thread in the lower thread guide from the
right.
o Lower thread guide
b Slip the thread in the needle bar thread guide on
the left.
