All phones must meet the federal standard,
which incorporates a substantial margin of
safety. As stated above, variations in SAR
values between different model phones do
not mean variations in safety. SAR values at
or below the federal standard of 1.6 W/kg are
considered safe for use by the public.
The highest reported SAR values of SCP-5000 are:
AMPS mode (Part 22) - Head: 1.40 W/kg;
Body-worn: 1.35 W/kg
PCS mode (Part 24) - head: 0.66 W/kg;
Body-worn: 1.38 W/kg.
Maintaining your Phone's
Peak Performance
There are several simple guidelines to
operating your phone properly and
maintaining safe, satisfactory service.
Extend the antenna fully for best reception.
Hold the phone with the antenna up and
over your shoulder.
Do not hold, bend or twist the phone antenna.
Retract the phone antenna when you're
not on a call.
Don't use the phone if the antenna is
damaged.
Speak directly into the mouthpiece.
Avoid exposing your phone and accessories
to rain or liquid spills. If your phone does
get wet, immediately turn the power off and
remove the battery. If it's inoperable,
return it to a Sprint PCS Center or call
Sprint PCS Customer Care for service.
Keep magnetic cards, magnetic tapes,
floppy disks, etc. away from your
Sprint PCS Phone, or their memory may
be erased by magnetism emitted from the
speakers of the phone.
