Infrared
(Menu 9.6.2)
Use this feature to send and receive data through
the infrared port. To use an infrared connection, you
must do the following:
Configure and activate an IrDA-compliant
infrared port on the other device.
Activate the infrared feature on your phone;
select Infrared → On.
Align the IrDA port on the
phone with the IrDA port on
the other device.
If there is no communication
between your phone and the
other IrDA-compliant device
within 60 seconds of activating
the feature, it is automatically
deactivated.
Network
(Menu 9.6.3)
Use this menu to change the settings for connecting
to your cellular network.
Network selection: select to either
automatically or manually select the network
used when roaming outside of your home area.
You can select a network other than your home
network only if there is a valid roaming
agreement between the two.
Network mode: select the network you use.
Automatic: the phone scans for available
networks.
GSM 900/1800: the phone operates in the
combined GSM 900/1800 network.
GSM 1900: the phone operates in the GSM
1900 network. This option is only available in
USA.
UMTS: the phone operates in UMTS (3G
network) networks. You can get a higher speed
quality than on lower generation networks, and
use advanced data and information services,
such as video calls.
Connections
(Menu 9.6.4)
You can set up information about your network
connection. In most cases, you don't need to change
the settings. In case of problems, please contact
your service provider.
Creating or editing a connection profile
Press <New>, or press <Options> and select
New, if you have stored any profile. You can select
the connection profile you want to edit. The
following options are available:
Set name: edit the name of the network setting.
Access name: edit the access point name used
for the address of the GPRS network gateway.
Auth type: choose the type of authentication
used.
User ID: edit the server login ID.
Password: edit the server password.
