4. Install the dust shield.
5. Reconnect the external cables to the corresponding connectors on the computer, and then reconnect
the power cord to the electrical outlet.

Computer cover

Prerequisite
Before you start, read Chapter 1 "Important safety information" on page 1 and print the following
instructions.
Before you open the computer cover, turn off the computer, and wait several minutes until the computer is
cool.
Replacement procedure
1. Turn off the computer and remove all connected devices.
2. Disconnect the computer from ac power and all connected cables.
3. Unlock any locking device that secures the computer cover.
4. Remove the rear Wi-Fi antenna, if any. See "Rear Wi-Fi antenna" on page 53.
5. Remove the vertical stand, if any. See "Vertical stand" on page 54.
6. Remove the VESA mount bracket, if any. See "VESA mount bracket" on page 56.
7. Remove the external optical drive box and external optical drive, if any. See "External optical drive box
and external optical drive" on page 57.
8. Remove the dust shield, if any. See "Dust shield" on page 61.
