    Infocast Internet Media Display Welcome Congratulations on your new Infocast! Your Infocast is a convenient and compact way to view or play your favorite media—music, photos, video, or a mix of all of these. Because the Infocast connects to the Internet, it's always on and the content is always fresh.

    NS-DP8CH Placement—To prevent fire or electric shock, do not expose your Infocast to rain or moisture. To prevent it from falling, do not place it on an unstable cart, stand, tripod, bracket, or table. Keep your Infocast away from strong magnets, heat sources, direct sunlight, and excessive dust.

    NS-DP8CH System requirements • Broadband Internet connection (such as cable or DSL). The Infocast won’t work with a dialup connection. • Wireless router (802.11b/802.11g compatible). Most routers currently sold support these requirements. Routers supporting 802.11n may work with the Infocast as long as they properly support 802.11g or 802.11b.

    Infocast Internet Media Display Using channels and apps What are apps? Apps are small (and sometimes fun!) programs you can run on your Infocast. You can drag apps to your channels or send them to your friends. www.insigniaproducts.com...
  • Page 16 NS-DP8CH What are channels? A channel is a collection of apps. You can view the “Featured Channel” or create your own channels. Drag and drop your favorite apps, photos, and videos to one of your channels to mix and match media—or send them to your friends’ channels.
  • Page 17 Infocast Internet Media Display Playing a channel So you can play a channel right away and see how it all works, your Infocast came with a channel called “Featured Channel” already set up for you. You’ll play your own custom channels the same way.
  • Page 18 Adding apps to a channel You can also add an app to a channel from your chumby account. For more information, go to insignia.chumby.com/help. To add an app to a channel: At your Infocast’s main menu, tap the APPS tab, then tap the Channels tab to expand the list of channels.
  • Page 19 We use this information to create new apps that will hopefully appeal to you. To rate an app: Press the Insignia button on top of your Infocast while a channel is playing. The app shuttle appears on the bottom of the screen.

    NS-DP8CH Managing friends You can send apps, photos, and videos to friends who have a chumby-powered device of their own. Send a Friend Request—Tap to invite a friend, then enter their Infocast username or e-mail address in the on-screen keyboard. New Friend Requests—Tap to see the list of invitations from other Infocast users.

    Infocast Internet Media Display Viewing photos You can view a slideshow of photos on your Infocast, making it work like a digital picture frame. To view photos: If you want to view photos from a memory card or USB flash drive, insert it into the appropriate port on the side or back of your Infocast.
