5.2 Custom insert installation with hood
trims
WARNING
Before installing, turn power OFF at the service panel.
Lock service panel to prevent power from being turned
ON accidentally.
WARNING
Unit is heavy and requires at least two people or
proper equipment to move and install.
WARNING
Hidden surfaces may have sharp edges.
Use caution when reaching behind or under appliance.
Preparing the ductwork
Refer to the section on ductwork preparation.

Install the metal transition with backdraft damper so that

the flap opens up toward the ceiling. If necessary, install
a thermal break and additional backdraft damper. Refer

Installing the hood trim
Hold the trim flush to the bottom of the housing. Secure

the trim to the hood with (20) x ⅜" (9.5 mm) screws.
The back trim piece may not be necessary in some

installation scenarios where there is a ½" (12.7 mm) or
less space between the hood and the back wall.
Preparing the wire routing
Remove the junction box cover A.

Remove one circular knockout B.

Install the strain relief (not included) into one of the

circular knockouts.
Installing the appliance
Install the custom insert inside the custom housing.
