    Viewing Closed Captions The unit decodes and displays the closed captionsthat are broadcastwith certain TV shows. These captions are usually subtitles for the hearing impairedor foreign languagetranslations.All VCRs record the closed caption signal from televisionprograms, so home-recorded video tapes also provide closed captions. Most prerecordedcommercialvideo tapes provideclosed captionsas well. Check for the closed captionsymbolin your televisionscheduleand onthe tape'spackaging:l_l.
