Section 2.8.1

Connecting Power Directly (DC Only)

The DC version of the RUGGEDCOM WIN5118 requires a 10 to 30 VDC Class 2 power supply.
IMPORTANT!
When connecting a DC battery power supply, make sure to use a 36 VDC, 3 A, double-pole circuit
breaker as the main disconnecting device.
To connect a power supply directly to the subscriber unit, do the following:
1.
Make sure the power supply is grounded. For more information, refer to
Subscriber
Unit".
2.
Connect the power supply to the 12VDC port on the subscriber unit.

Connect a CAT-5e cable between the ETH/PWR port on the subscriber unit and a switch or router.

Connecting the RUGGEDCOM WIN1010 (AC Only)

The RUGGEDCOM WIN1010 is a Power-over-Ethernet injector used to power the subscriber unit and distribute
data. The injector provides RJ45 input connectors that include 10/100Base-T transceivers for connection to an IEEE
802.3 (10/100Base-T) compatible device. It receives power from a 100 to 240 VAC power source using an IEC-320-
C14 industry standard connector.
CAUTION!
Electrical hazard – risk of damage to equipment. The power cord provided with the data adapter is
safety certified according to national rules. Do not use a power cord that has not been approved by
Siemens for use with the data adapter.
To connect power and data to the subscriber unit, do the following:
CAUTION!
Crushing hazard – risk of damage to equipment. Route all power supply cables so that people cannot
walk on them or place objects on or against them. This can pinch or damage the cords.
