COMMUNICATION AND CONTROL HIGH-SPEED WIRELESS INTERNET SYSTEM The airborne high-speed data system provides a two-way data connection between ground-based Internet providers and the aircraft while in flight. This system relies upon onboard avionics to provide satellite communications to ground network service points and to provide network access to passenger devices enabled for WiFi on the aircraft. The primary airborne satellite network service is the Gogo Business (Gogo Biz) Aviation Air To Ground (ATG) 5000 system that uses the proprietary Gogo Biz network.
  • Page 83 COMMUNICATION AND CONTROL The ATG 5000 acts as the Dynamic Host Configuration Protocol (DHCP) server for all devices on this Local Area Network (LAN), and will assign IP addresses dynamically to WiFi capable laptops, smartphones, and other Personal Electronic Devices (PED) in the aircraft. The ATG 5000 unit is interfaced to the Aspire-100 telecommunications system.

ENTERTAINMENT VIDEO SYSTEM The UCS 5000 Gogo Vision provides on-demand video content such as movies, TV episodes, news, destination weather, moving maps, and flight information. The video system distributes multi-regional video formats including National Television Systems Committee (NTSC), Phase Alternating Line (PAL), and Sequentiel Couleur a Memoire (SECAM), from the NiceView passenger information system and the Blu-ray player to video displays.
  • Page 93: Hdmi Port

ENTERTAINMENT HDMI Port The HDMI port on the combination USB and HDMI panel shown in Figure 42 is in the upper shelf of the main compartment of the forward wardrobe, adjacent to the Blu-ray player. The HDMI port allows multimedia signals from carry-on audio/video devices (for example, camcorder, digital camera, or video game console) connected to the port to be available for selection through the CMS.
  • Page 94 ENTERTAINMENT The cabin passenger USB ports are found on the combination audio and USB panels (Figure 43) in the armledge storage box at each single seat, and in each divan end cabinet. If a USB storage device or PED is connected to a cabin USB port, the CMS will identify multimedia files and make them available for play and control at the adjacent passenger PCU.
  • Page 95: Niceview Passenger Information System

ENTERTAINMENT NiceView Passenger Information System The NiceView passenger information system shows real-time aircraft locations (superimposed over a map), airspeed, altitude, flight time, and editable points-of-interest. The NiceView system can show pre-flight and safety briefings, in-flight announcements, and company logos. Audio/visual presentations can also be shown over the NiceView system.
  • Page 96: Audio System

ENTERTAINMENT AUDIO SYSTEM The audio system provides stereo quality sound for audio source devices. Stereo audio is routed to headphone ports and/or to the cabin speakers. The audio level of the cabin entertainment speakers is controlled from the GCP and the VIP PCU. The audio level of individual headphones is controlled from the adjacent passenger PCUs and scroll-wheel control panels.
  • Page 97 ENTERTAINMENT Audio controls for the headphones output include source selection, volume, bass, treble, balance, and dynamic range control. For headphone ports of single seats, the audio controls are adjusted by the PCU adjacent to that seat. For the outboard seat of each double seat assembly, the audio controls are adjusted by the scroll-wheel panel in the narrow armledge.
  • Page 98: Speakers

ENTERTAINMENT Speakers The cabin is divided into forward and aft audio zones. The cabin entertainment speaker system works by controlled excitation of the trim panel, with the vibrating trim panel functioning as a large, virtually invisible speaker diaphragm. The vibrating surface of the panel radiates sound into the cabin, providing even distribution of the sound, near-linear frequency response, and minimum distortion.
  • Page 99: Electrical Power

ELECTRICAL POWER POWER SYSTEM DESCRIPTION The electrical power system uses an inverter that has a 2.0 kVA capacity to provide 115VAC/60Hz to the electrical outlets. Universal-style outlets are located throughout the cabin, in the galley, and adjacent to the lavatory sink as shown Figure The galley outlet is rated for kitchen appliance use and is protected by the GFI in the upper galley. The galley outlet will only supply power when the door in front of the upper galley compartment is completely open.
