System Check

After the system installation, a functional check is made according to the installation guide
for each unit.
Note: The battery saving time (set in the PUP or WinPDM depending on handset) must be
set to a battery saving time of 0.5, 2 or 5 seconds. The mode 0 seconds is for handset test
purpose only and is not supported by the system. Keeping the mode 0 seconds during
normal operation decreases the performance of the handset and also radically decreases
its battery operating time. Be sure that the battery saving time in the handset and the
Central Unit is identical.
Note: Paging and alarms sent from the system to the handset, must be transmitted with
at least one repetition in order to secure a reliable system.
In multi-transmitter installations each fixed transmitter must be checked separately. This
should be done by an authorized technician.

10.1 Function Check for Paging

• Send a message from each product/unit (for example NetPage) that can generate
pagings. Check that the Transceiver/Receiver handsets receive the message correctly.
• Send a message with request for answer from each product/unit (for example NetPage)
to the handsets that support acknowledgement. If the message is received correctly,
accept or reject the message by pressing the corresponding option key on the handset.
Check if the product/unit, that initiated the message, received the answer.

10.2 Function Check for Alarm

• Generate an alarm from a Transceiver/Transmitter handset by pressing the appropriate
button. Check that the alarm is received by the Unite CM that handles the alarms.
• If Locators are used in the system, generate an alarm from a Transceiver handset
located within coverage of a Locator. Depending on the handset settings, the handset
may beep and/or the LED may flashes when entering the coverage area and when the
handset receives a new location code.
Check that the Unite CM receives the correct location code. The location code sent to
the Unite CM should be the same as the last received location code shown i handset.
See the manual for the handset for information how to find the last received location
code.

10.3 LED Patterns Fixed Units

If a malfunction occurs, check that the functional indicators (LEDs) on all fixed units show
a steady light. If not proceed as follows:
• No light: No power, check power supply. Hardware fault, contact your dealer.
• Slow blink (0.5 Hz): Program error. Restart the unit by switching the power off and on.
• Fast blink (8 Hz): Communication error. Check bus polarity and addressing of the unit.
• One blink every fourth second: Unit in test mode. Contact your dealer.
