PROBLEM
(SYMPTOMS)
Bead is too thick (inter-
mittently).
Bead does not penetrate base
metal.
Wire sputters and sticks to
workpiece.
Edge of weld has ragged
depressions.
If for any reason you do not understand the test procedures or are unable to perform the tests/repairs safely, contact your
Lincoln Authorized Service Facility for technical troubleshooting assistance before you proceed.

POSSIBLE AREAS OF
MISADJUSTMENT(S)
Travel speed is slow and/or inconsistent.
Output heat range is too high.
Travel speed is inconsistent.
Output heat range is too low.
The wire is damp.
Wire feed speed (WFS) is too fast.
Travel speed is too fast.
WFS is too fast.
Output heat range is too high.
RECOMMENDED COURSE OF ACTION
Increase and maintain a constant travel speed.
Turn the voltage down.
Decrease and maintain a constant travel speed.
Turn the voltage up.
Change to dry wire. Be sure wire is stored in a dry location
Reduce WFS.
Reduce travel speed.
Reduce WFS.
Set the Low – High Heat Range switch to Low or the Fine
Heat Adjustment to (1).
